COACHES & ADMINISTRATION

Haruki SETO

I was born in Toyama Prefecture, and since I started playing soccer in elementary school, my life has consistently been centered around soccer.

I made my debut with Yokohama Flugels in 1996 and played professionally for 15 years until my retirement in 2010, playing for more than 10 club teams in Japan and abroad.

My experience in various leagues and clubs taught me the importance of preparing myself to do my best as a player, transcending the differences in athletic perspectives, coaching philosophies, cultures, and backgrounds.

I have always seriously considered what is expected of me while promoting myself in the shortest possible time in a new place, organization, and different culture.

Since my retirement, I have been coaching the developmental age group, and this year will be my twelfth year.

In 2016, I obtained a JFA Certified Coach General Class A license, and I will continue to be involved in coaching and development.

The teams I have been involved in training have primarily been for students between the ages of 13 and 18.

Last year, I had the valuable experience of working with the Chinese Super League organization.

For this age group, we are conscious of maximizing team performance and results as well as improving individual skills in daily practice in preparation for various league matches and other weekend competitions.

I have tried my best to identify the personalities and characteristics of the players and to convey many things to them through my own experience as a player.

Off the pitch, we are also involved in public relations, interacting with the players, helping them choose a career path, and contributing to the local community.

I have learned a lot about life planning and community relations, which is very important.

In addition to the club team development described above, I have also developed my coaching skills at various age levels.

I regularly taught extra-curricular classes at a kindergarten in Niigata.

For many years I took elementary school classes at sports clubs in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture.

I have also coached seniors and female soccer enthusiasts.

From this experience, I believe that it is not only important to coach developmental coaching, where the main focus is on winning or losing games and player growth, but it is equally valuable to enrich lives by enjoying sports through mindless sweating and enjoying sports with friends.

We hope that the young children at Hexagon will first discover the joy of soccer.

Step by step, through training and game experience that matches their growth, I will help everyone to love soccer more and grow in mind and body.

The Hexagon children come from various international backgrounds, and I believe that the values they will acquire and the fields in which they will play will be more diverse and of a broader global standard.

When I was a player, I went to many different countries for training camps, and I won a narrow foreigner's spot on the Singapore team and became captain.

In Singapore, I was able to test myself in a different environment than the one I grew up in and experience intense competition both on and off the team, which I believe helped me grow bigger and stronger.

After becoming a coach, I took  kids to Manchester and Buenos Aires for training camps and visits.

Since soccer is a popular sport worldwide, I can touch the world and interact with people through soccer, transcending language and race.

Through our activities at Hexagon, I hope to share with you an experience that will allow you to enjoy soccer and spread your wings to the world without fear.

I  look forward to playing with you.
